Numerical Methods

This task group aims at monitoring the developments in the field of numerical methods and the potential for novel approaches to solve problems in computational wave propagation. A particular focus is the simulation of wave propagation problems on unstructured grids (e.g., triangular, tetrahedral) that have advantages in connection with grid generation, an issue that becomes more important as models get more complex. Combinations of the good properties of various methods (hybrid approaches) will also be discussed as they may render realistic problems more feasible in some situations.

A first workshop of this task group was held 18-20 July, 2005 in Munich. Program, presentations and results can be found here.
