Workshops
SPICE will organise open Research and Training Workshops in each project year, focusing on the various aspects of computational seismology. Roughly, the R+T workshops are focusing on the following issues
- R+T Workshop I in 2004: Numerical methods applied to wave propagation problems (Venice, Italy)
- R+T Workshop II in 2005: Large-scale simulations and specific applications in seismology (Smolenice, Slovak Republic)
- R+T Workshop III in 2006: Computational seismolgoy and inverse problems (Ireland)
- R+T Workshop IV in 2007: Numerical methods applied to wave propagation problems (Cargese, Corsica)
The workshops are open to any interested students and researchers. The teaching level adresses predominantly graduate students who are or will be carrying out research developing or applying computational tools in seismology or related fields. For the practicals basic programming skills are necessary. For each workshop scholarships that cover either registration fees and/or accomodation costs are available.
