General Information: The SPICE network will offer 14 post-doc positions (each for 22 months) and 14 Ph.D. projects (each for 3-years) in all fields of computational seismology starting in mid 2004. The table below shows open and filled positions within the SPICE network.

How to apply? You can either apply directly to the leading scientists of the SPICE partners or send your information (CV, statement of interest, names of three references) to the SPICE administrator in Munich, Erika Vye, contact details here. The application deadline is June 1, 2004.

What are the scientific topics at the partner institutions? At the SPICE kick-off meeting each project partner presented the expertise of his/her group with names of involved scientists, projects, and research interests. The presentations are available here. Further information is contained in the corresponding section of the research proposal focussing on the expertise [178 KB] of each partner. The overall scope and tasks of SPICE are also described in the abbreviated version of the "Description of Work" [156 KB] that is part of the contract with the EU.

Am I eligible? There a couple of rules that define whether you are eligible or not. In principle you should not seek a position in the your country of origin or residence. The eligibility criteria are explained in detail in the Marie Curie Research Training Network - Guidelines [1.047 KB].

Other benefits? All researchers (Ph.D. candidates and post docs) will benefit from supplementary allowances that will enable them to spend a substantial amount of their time at the partner institutions (and they will be required to do so). Each Ph.D. project will be formally supervised by two scientists at different institutions. Additional allowances are supporting career development plans and one visit per year to the home countries. More info in the Marie Curie Research Training Network - Guidelines [1.047 KB].

SPICE/MAGE collaboration
We would like to announce a postdoc position in planetary seismology funded by MAGE (MArs Geophysical European Network) Research Training Network, SPICE and CNES. For more information on this postition click here.

PhD positions, University of Utrecht The University of Utrecht currently has three vacancies for PhD candidates in the field of seismology. Each comes with a guaranteed salary for 4 years which corresponds to the time span students are expected to finish a PhD. A description of the different projects can be found here.

PhD positions, University College Dublin The Seismology and Computational Rock Physics Lab, School of Geological Sciences, University College Dublin, has openings for two PhD and one Post Doc position, for more details see: http://geophysics.ucd.ie/positions.shtml
