1. *Money Transfer for the fourth period of the project*
The payment orders of the Pre-financing for the fourth period of the
project have already been passed to our central financial
administration, so that the money will be transferred to each partner
soon. Please do keep in mind that this last instalment is just a
*/_partial payment _/*of the due sum for the fourth period. The final
payment for this period will follow as soon as the Commission has
approved the “End of year Reports” and the “Final Reports”
(approximately summer 2008). Please do not forget that you are NOT
allowed to spend money after the 31.12.2007, except for the AUDIT costs
which have in any case to be submitted at the latest 45 days after the
end of the fourth period (see SPICE Contract, Article 7, Paragraph 2 and
Annex 2, Article II.7, Point 3). Since the Network won’t unfortunately
have spent the whole money awarded to the project by the Commission, it
will have to be returned to Brussels.
*2. End of year report *
Please start acquiring all necessary information concerning Transfer of
Knowledge and Research Achievements and all financial statements and
make sure to forward them to us NO LATER *THAN JANUARY, 15 2007 *(see
also previous newsletter). Remember that this is the last year, so every
financial adjustment regarding the previous years should be included! If
you or your admin have ANY questions concerning this form please contact
Greta!
As you may recall – by contract – we need audits for the final project
year (2007). So THIS TIME AUDIT IS REQUIRED.
*3. Announcement of www.computational-seismology.org
<http://www.computational-seismology.org>***
As decided at the SPICE-CIG Meeting, we initiated an open www
environment under www.computational-seismology.org
<http://www.computational-seismology.org/> . In the long term this
should be an international platform where we distribute information on
past, ongoing, and future projects, software libraries, benchmarking,
new releases, open positions, publications, meetings, etc. This is of
course under construction and will take some time to materialize.
*4. EOS article*
In the December 11 issue of EOS, a short article announced the SPICE
library and other SPICE related activities like benchmarking and
training material. The article can be downloaded via
http://www.spice-rtn.org/library/downloads/EOS.pdf/view.
*5. SPICE Calendar 2008*
Greta compiled a calendar for 2008 with a few pictures from our SPICE
activities. We hope you appreciate the selection. The calendar is
attached in pdf format. Ready to be printed out and to be put on your
walls or desk!

Well, this will be the last newsletter in the lifetime of SPICE. We
would like to thank all lead scientists, PhD and postdoctoral
researchers, the guest lecturers, the workshop participants, etc. for
your contributions, enthusiasm, and support for the project. I do
believe we have come a big step forward in joining our efforts for
efficient wave field and rupture calculations on the way to
incorporating them to the imaging problems. A lot of problems remain to
be solved, but we are much better positioned now to push the problems on
a European scale.
Last not least I want to specifically thank Erika and Greta. They both
have done a fantastic job to work on the horrid administrative details
and the organization of all the meetings. We also want to thank
Jean-Bernard Veyret ( EU project officer) for his guide and support.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Heiner
